Identifying Features || Ritual scars of the elder futhark carved into either forearm, thick auburn beard, faint scars following along the major bone groups from grafting surgery
Overall || In terms of overall appearance, Alasdair is, to say the least, a memorable individual. With his great stature and powerful frame, he is among the largest of humans most people will meet. Add to that his rather spectacular beard and array of rune scars, along with a fashion sense that can be best described as anachronistic, and it can be safely said that those who meet him will not soon forget the encounter. In times of peace, he often favors the kilt and tartan, though not the ceremonial form seen among pipe and drum corps, but the historical daily wear of the average citizen of medieval Scotland. In colder climes, this attire is exchanged for heavy furs, though when on a mission, Alasdair's arrayment becomes truly terrifying. In such circumstances, Alasdair dons his Sable Fire Powered Assault Armor, 1500 lbs of highly advanced power armor that, unlike most models of its kind, is covered in spikes and sharpened ridges that make even an embrace a deadly proposition.
the personality
Personal Strengths || A career military man, Alasdair is well-versed in adapting to adverse conditions on short notice, or even no notice at all. As hardy as humans come, his penchant for enduring what would halt lesser men often proved a powerful source of motivation for those that served under him. True to his roots, his code of honor is as strong as his limbs, and has proven time and time again to be a man of his word. Trust, though slowly granted, is difficult to shake with him, and is nearly always well rewarded when given to him.
Personal Weaknesses || The very same things that give shape to Alasdair’s greatest strengths are often the source of his greatest flaws, as he simply does not understand the mind of the civilian very well, and frequently comes across as coarse and uncaring due to how he expresses himself. Once he has set himself to a task, he pursues it doggedly, which is a strength in that he does not give up, but is a flaw in that it is born of no small measure of stubbornness. Though the consummate professional before allies, Alasdair’s fury is also itself a glaring weakness, though how the man channels that rage leaves few able to live long enough to exploit it that have the misfortune of bearing witness.
Goals || Alasdair's goals remain the same as they have always been; to serve others, particularly those close to him, through the use of his various skills and abilities. Aside from this, he simply wishes to keep a purpose after spending most of his life as a combat soldier.
Fears || Hardened by years of rough living, Alasdair fears very little, and of those few things, he is unlikely to panic if confronted with those. He fears failing those entrusted to him, and responds with extreme levels of aggression in their defense. Perhaps his deepest fear is being powerless, however, since virtually all that he has accomplished has been through strength of arms.
Overall || EXECUTIVE PERSONALITY (ESTJ, -A/-T)
Good order is the foundation of all things.
Edmund Burke
Executives are representatives of tradition and order, utilizing their understanding of what is right, wrong and socially acceptable to bring families and communities together. Embracing the values of honesty, dedication and dignity, people with the Executive personality type are valued for their clear advice and guidance, and they happily lead the way on difficult paths. Taking pride in bringing people together, Executives often take on roles as community organizers, working hard to bring everyone together in celebration of cherished local events, or in defense of the traditional values that hold families and communities together.
Executive (ESTJ) personality
Anyone Worth Their Salt Sticks Up for What They Believe Is Right...
Demand for such leadership is high in democratic societies, and forming no less than 11% of the population, it’s no wonder that many of America’s presidents have been Executives. Strong believers in the rule of law and authority that must be earned, Executive personalities lead by example, demonstrating dedication and purposeful honesty, and an utter rejection of laziness and cheating, especially in work. If anyone declares hard, manual work to be an excellent way to build character, it is Executives.
Executives are aware of their surroundings and live in a world of clear, verifiable facts – the surety of their knowledge means that even against heavy resistance, they stick to their principles and push an unclouded vision of what is and is not acceptable. Their opinions aren’t just empty talk either, as Executives are more than willing to dive into the most challenging projects, improving action plans and sorting details along the way, making even the most complicated tasks seem easy and approachable.
However, Executives don’t work alone, and they expect their reliability and work ethic to be reciprocated – people with this personality type meet their promises, and if partners or subordinates jeopardize them through incompetence or laziness, or worse still, dishonesty, they do not hesitate to show their wrath. This can earn them a reputation for inflexibility, a trait shared by all Sentinel personalities, but it’s not because Executives are arbitrarily stubborn, but because they truly believe that these values are what make society work.
...But Still Better Are Those Who Acknowledge When They Are in Error
Executives are classic images of the model citizen: they help their neighbors, uphold the law, and try to make sure that everyone participates in the communities and organizations they hold so dear.
The main challenge for Executives is to recognize that not everyone follows the same path or contributes in the same way. A true leader recognizes the strength of the individual, as well as that of the group, and helps bring those individuals’ ideas to the table. That way, Executives really do have all the facts, and are able to lead the charge in directions that work for everyone.
EXECUTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Executive (ESTJ) strengths
Dedicated – Seeing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Executives. Tasks aren’t simply abandoned because they’ve become difficult or boring – people with the Executive personality type take them up when they are the right thing to do, and they will be finished so long as they remain the right thing to do.
Strong-willed – A strong will makes this dedication possible, and Executives don’t give up their beliefs because of simple opposition. Executives defend their ideas and principles relentlessly, and must be proven clearly and conclusively wrong for their stance to budge.
Direct and Honest – Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it’s wanted or not).
Loyal, Patient and Reliable – Executives work to exemplify truthfulness and reliability, considering stability and security very important. When Executives say they’ll do something, they keep their word, making them very responsible members of their families, companies and communities.
Enjoy Creating Order – Chaos makes things unpredictable, and unpredictable things can’t be trusted when they are needed most – with this in mind, Executives strive to create order and security in their environments by establishing rules, structures and clear roles.
Excellent Organizers – This commitment to truth and clear standards makes Executives capable and confident leaders. People with this personality type have no problem distributing tasks and responsibilities to others fairly and objectively, making them excellent administrators.
Executive (ESTJ) weaknesses
Inflexible and Stubborn – The problem with being so fixated on what works is that Executives too often dismiss what might work better. Everything is opinion until proven, and Executive personalities are reluctant to trust an opinion long enough for it to have that chance.
Uncomfortable with Unconventional Situations – Executives are strong adherents to tradition and when suddenly forced to try unvetted solutions, they become uncomfortable and stressed. New ideas suggest that their methods weren’t good enough, and abandoning what has always worked before in favor of something that may yet fail risks their image of reliability.
Judgmental – Executives have strong convictions about what is right, wrong, and socially acceptable. Executives’ compulsion to create order often extends to all things and everyone, ignoring the possibility that there are two right ways to get things done. Executives do not hesitate to let these “deviants” know what they think, considering it their duty to set things right.
Too Focused on Social Status – Executives take pride in the respect of their friends, colleagues and community and while difficult to admit, are very concerned with public opinion. Executives (especially Turbulent ones) can get so caught up in meeting others’ expectations that they fail to address their own needs.
Difficult to Relax – This need for respect fosters a need to maintain their dignity, which can make it difficult to cut loose and relax for risk of looking the fool, even in good fun.
Difficulty Expressing Emotion – This is all evidence of Executives’ greatest weakness: expressing emotions and feeling empathy. People with the Executive personality type get so caught up in the facts and most effective methods that they forget to think of what makes others happy, or of their sensitivity. A detour can be breathtakingly beautiful, a joy for the family, but Executives may only see the consequence of arriving at their destination an hour late, hurting their loved ones by rejecting the notion too harshly.
the history
Family Information || Among the last living members of Clan MacUspaig, the majority of which was slain during the Kromus assault on Beacon in 2947, Alasdair holds a strong loyalty to his clan, the Terran Confederation, and the denizens of the Eye of Fire. Despite this, his contact with them since his retirement has been intermittent at best, in large part due to the ringworld's isolated position on the night side of the tidal-locked world of , located midway between the Sol-Daiban and Andromeda Galaxies. (I haven't actually fleshed out a family tree just yet)
Homeworld || New Glasgow, Beacon colony. Social Status: Career soldier, now retired from service, currently a Freelancer mercenary/bounty hunter registered with the Galactic Federation History || Born 10 August 2922 in New Glasgow, Beacon to Davina and Kentigern MacUspaig, Alasdair's early life was unremarkable in virtually any way. From a large clan of Pilgrims with a strong Scottish heritage, he was instilled with the hardy work ethic needed to manage life on a homestead. However, like many young men in such positions, he held little desire to live out his life in so mundane a way, and at 18, he enlisted in the Terran Confederation Army as an infantryman in 2940 as a way to get away from farm life. His upbringing would serve him well throughout his military career, instilling him with a drive that enabled him to qualify for selection and begin SF Infantry training at the rank of Staff Sergeant in 2946. Even when faced with the new challenges of Special Forces training, Alasdair would not stumble in any way until, in 2947, tragedy struck, as Clan MacUspaig was virtually wiped out in first open assault by the Kromus Pirates in 2947, marking the beginning the Kromus War. Shortly after learning the news, Alasdair was approached by Æsir recruiters, who had been attracted by his thus far impressive service record. Eager for a way to channel his grief in a way that would be beneficial both for himself and his brothers-in-arms, he accepted, entering the program as one of the earlier recruits and meeting John Aran in the process. This meeting would mark the beginning of an extensive service record involving the two men, persisting the full length of the Kromus War. Alasdair would end training by serving directly under Aran’s command for the duration of the war, serving both as Aran's NCO counterpart, and quite possibly the strangest bodyguard(such as they exist within the military) in recent history. One such example involved an incident during a ground campaign, wherein Alasdair acquired an old Jiranhalae Gravity Hammer from the debris scattering the battlefield after his own rifle was damaged, and made remarkably effective use of the weapon, despite the weapon lacking any power and sustaining notable deterioration from the passage of time. This would later contribute in part to his future usage of the runehammer, Steinbrot. However, this would be only one battle of many, as he and the other Æsirs would take part in multiple offensives throughout the Kromus War, culminating in the Siege of Krom. Following the war’s end, Alasdair requested reassignment to noncombat duties, and became an instructor from 2960 until late 2976, with a brief hiatus during which he was placed on leave to mourn the death of John Aran. During this leave period, Alasdair visited death site, though Samus had already been taken, preventing him from learning her fate until her return to Confederation space. While he did briefly search the area for any remaining effects of the Aran family, he failed to find anything of note, as the blast that had claimed John destroyed much of the area, and due to the instability of the rubble further down, failed to recover John’s catalyst blade. After visiting the death site, Alasdair was approached by Eliza Silvermantle of Arcanus Military Industries, a longtime defense contractor for the Confederation, who offered to further improve upon Alasdair’s augmentations. Eager to avenge his comrade’s death, he again accepted, even though this entailed an NDA that prevented him from discussing technical data regarding the process he would undergo. True to her promise, Alasdair became the first successful Terran Titan produced by AMI’s Titan Program, and after a brief recovery and training period, he returned to his post, where he would debrief his command on the events, and deliver a copy of the NDA to Admiral Dane, as Eliza had intended Dane to be informed, though she gave little reasoning to Alasdair as to why. Alasdair, at any rate, resumed his position as a close quarters combat instructor, training a number of recruits, many of whom would go on to become Special Forces operators, though he would prepare for retirement shortly after training Samus and her class. Following Samus’ departure from the Confederation Army, Alasdair put in papers for retirement, and would leave active service after learning of the events on Zebes and register with the Terran Confederation for authorization as a privateer.
Other Information || Maintains ties with Arcanus Military Industries, the Galactic Federation, and the Terran Confederation, but ultimately is a neutral party with regards to geopolitics. Can be hired by most parties not hostile to these entities.
the verse-specific details
Abilities || Physical enhancements stemming from the Æsir and Titan Program's augmentation battery, runic magic, natural aging process halted by arcane ritual, biologically immortal as a result. Death still possible by means other than passage of time. Skills || Extensive experience in infantry movements, weapons, and tactics. Proficiency in most wheeled and track vehicles, as well as flight-capable power armor and Mobile Combat Units and a limited number of more conventional spaceborne military vessels, primarily small troop transports and fighter craft. Capable of identifying arcane magic by visual manifestations. Combat instruction.
Training || Various training courses under the Terran Confederation Army, primarily infantry training. Additional training includes asymmetrical warfare tactics, psychological warfare, armored vehicle training, and instruction by Arcanus Military Industries in the effective use of Sable Fire Powered Assault Armor and Mobile Combat Units. Additional language training via exposure to target languages. Specialized infantry training for close quarters combat. Combat Strengths || Augmented physical abilities and experience, coupled with power armor provides force multiplier effect. Combat Weaknesses || Due to specialization into close quarters combat and vehicular combat, ranged infantry provides a notable challenge. Deeply personal towards those under his command, leading to a tendency to protect them, at times to the detriment of the mission. Given to battle fury when engaging in close quarters, which can lead to being separated from the rest of the unit. Additionally, while fast and strong, Alasdair is neither particularly nimble nor a small target, making cover more challenging to find than for others, which in turn prompts heavy reliance on his armor holding. Additional Details || Nothing further at this time.
Weapons || Primary weapon: Steinbrot(Stone Breaker)- heavy warhammer carved with runes affiliated with the four primary elements. Can be used to channel element-based attacks by invoking the corresponding runes. Secondary weapon: Shotgun gauntlets- 4 12 gauge shotguns built into each forearm armor segment, with a total capacity of 48 shells between both arms. Extreme close range, high damage output. Tertiary weapon: Kojima rifle- long range energy rifle that discharges a gamma like burst of lethal radiation. Maximum effective range in standard atmosphere: 600 meters.
Ship || Does your character have a personal vessel? Sable Fire Powered Assault Armor can be classified as a short-range vehicle due to flight capabilities. Additional vessel: Sgiath Nan Reultan - Gen-VI Mobile Combat Unit(specs to come) Current Story || Following his retirement from the Dragon Fleet of Arcanus Military Industries, Alasdair made his way back to the sector of the Milky Way that had birthed his people, and there began a new life, knowing that short of falling to illness, poison, or injury, he would live on indefinitely. Work as a licensed Freelancer fit him well, since it allowed him to stay on the move, thus preventing too many people from realizing his strange condition of not aging, and simultaneously put the skills he had garnered over the long years of his military service to good use. Eventually, he was requested to serve as a combat instructor for the Galactic Federation Army by the Terran Confederation, where he eventually encountered a young woman known as Samus Aran. Following his stint as a combat instructor, Alasdair resumed his role as a Freelancer, though he has maintained contact with Samus over the years since their first meeting, having known her father during the Kromus Wars.

"Hurry up and get those charges set!" "I am, dammit! Fuck! Is this even gonna do anything to that guy?" "Hell if I know, but you wanna see if he's in a talkative mood after what happened to Greene?" A soft chuckle sounded from within the confines of the approaching armored frame. It really was a bit funny that they thought he couldn't hear them. Then again, they also seemed to think a few pounds of high explosives would do much more than dirty his heavy armor. He didn't bothered to run, nor did he attempt to hide his cacophonous approach. It would have been an exercise in futility, anyway. as Sable Fire armor was designed for combat, not scouting. "Woud ye lookit that..?" Alasdair drawled out as he approached the door frame. A panicked yelp preceded the soft click of a detonator, and for a moment, the towering man was blind before the dampeners in his visor activated, allowing him to peer through the guttering flames produced by the blast down at the solitary figure on his back, stunned even from the weak side of the blast. "Yer friend's nae here oniemair, lad.. Ye're gannin tae die here, alane.." he remarked with the casualness of a man discussing the weather. "But donnae ye fret. I'll catch up wi him soon enouch.." the Scotsman added as his right arm descended, bringing a hammer down with a head as large as a man's skull upon the doomed bounty hunter with a sickening crunch. "As I was walkin' all alane, I spied twa corbies makin' mane..." he sang lazily as he pursued the remaining hunter. Would they never learn? he wondered as he strode on his grim way. The bounty had officially been removed from his friend, and he had taken it upon himself to hunt down those that failed to understand that. Anything Else || Nothing comes to mind, though if there are questions, comments, or concerns, I can answer them as needed.
