Magic Limits and Allowed Capabilities

The Five Categories are presented as follows to prevent godmodding and other situations where players in the game would be instantly outmatched by a magic user at anything and everything. Magic allows one to bend rules of physics, not act like they don't exist.
In universe, the reason for this existing is that magic in the "Monoverse" works off of a combination of one's innate skills as well as their own magic energy. Using up too much of your own energy means that you cannot use your spells further without risking killing yourself by burning your own potential lifespan to fuel magic casting. Out of setting, this is to prevent abusive spell spamming and force players to think on their toes--do you really need to use your magic at this time? Are there other alternatives to your situation?

Green category is magic accessible to everyone who wishes to dabble in magic so long as the basic knowledge is available. Yellow category is magic accessible to mages and those who have specifically been studying to specialize in magic over other skills, and takes time to obtain. Red category is magic that is CURRENTLY not available for use but as the game progresses and our mages learn more, they will at SOME POINT have access to these magicks once they have progressed to a point where they have proven they are capable of wielding powerful magic and not controlling the game or other users with it. Orange category is a species' or regoom specific magic, limited to those who are "in the know" or of a race capable of such. If a race has capabilities beyond what is outlined, they have to follow what is currently allowed in order to make things fair. Black category is not allowed under any circumstances, or if it is there will be a one-time specific reason for allowing it to happen such as a story event that is PLANNED.

That being said, feel free to contact slate or The Huntress for any detailed questions. A good reference basis for the magic system would be to look at the Final Fantasy spell system. We also are having our characters "level" based on story progression and as the writers prove that they are not going to abuse power as we give it. While we are very flexible, we want to make sure that our tech-using friends are not severely outclassed by the magic users.

GREEN Level – Unrestricted

General Healing Magics
Base level single target Spells such as Fire, Blizzard, etc.
Stat Augmenting such as enhanced speed, strength, etc.
Item summoning
Basic alchemy
Navigational magic for positioning and location identification
Shield/Blocking Spells
Using basic magic artifacts

YELLOW Level – Progression Based, Lower Restricted

Higher Level Spells (equivalent to Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga)
Parasitic magics (Any spell that takes life from another to heal the self)
Basic Revival Magic
General Shapeshifting (mimicry of an individual of the same species, within a general size and mass range adjacent to their own.)
Advanced Alchemy
Localized Time Dilation(essentially bullet time)
Travel Magic (localized translocation)
Creating basic magical artifacts
Simple summoning(shades, wisps, simple minions)

RED Level – Upper Restricted

Instantaneous Complete Healing Magic
Total Revival Magic/Limb Regeneration
Magics of Mass Destruction(Ultima, Meteor, Hellfire, Dragon Slave, other large scale destructive spells of such nature)
Chimerical magics, permanent body augmentations, 'human' transmutations.
Full mimicry shapeshifting(duplicating another species entirely, changing one's apparent biology beyond just appearance and gender. This allows for transforming into a animals as well as mimicry of a species non-exotic ability traits.)
Necromancy(any magics that manipulate the dead, be it raising corpses, enthralling ghosts, or even magically induced vampirism.
Mental Possession
Inter-planetary Translocation
Inter-planer Travel
Complex Temporal Magics(accelerated aging of the environment or a person, reversing the effects of aging)

ORANGE Level – Racial/Regional Specific

Race Specific Magic (such as elves, dwarves, Ork 'waaaaaahg!', etc.)
Inhuman abilities/enhanced powers
Inherited magical abilities, "Jedi/Sith" abilities, Jutsus, X-Men Style Mutants
Please ask for specifics about your race

BLACK Level – Disallowed

Any cross-dimensional transit(alternate universe, parallel worlds, etc) ((Does not count if it is a universe within our universe such as "Hell," but this is to be used sparingly and considered an Orange/Red spell depending on the situation. Orange is for those who are born with the innate ability to travel between planes, those who have learned it will consider it a RED spell.))
Time Travel/Meta Knowledge regarding Time Travel or the future
True Resurrection (Resurrection has consequences, a consequence-free resurrection is not in the cards right now.)
Spells that augment and warp reality permanently. Irreversible changes.
Any Magics of Mass Destruction capable of destroying entire planets or causing mass extinction of all life on a planet in one shot (Black Materia as one example)
Interstellar Translocation (warping between large star systems that are not part of a linked multi-star system)
Weaponizing of wormholes/hyperspace/etc. using magic
