THE OROKIN CLUSTER

Six thousand years ago, a Brood Chozo survey group came across what appeared to be a second seeded human homeworld planet in the Centaurus Arm. This group of humans had managed to maintain advancements far better than those of Sol-III, but had become stalled in a pre-space travel state of stellar technology. Following the dictate of the Mantle of Guidance as taught by the Ancients, the Chozo set down and began their attempts at uplifting the humans via sharing of their base technologies. This was successful to some degree, until an elite class group of these humans, calling themselves the "Orokin", realized that the Chozo were not telling them everything or sharing all their technologies. After gaining enough comprehension of basic Chozo technologies, the Orokin turned on their mentors and slaughtered the Bird People who had benevolently taught them so much, then took effort to erase any proof of the Chozo having gifted them such technologies.

Once history was theirs, the Orokin began experimenting with the biotech knowledge and genetic chambers that the Brood had brought on their ships. Unable to understand the full scope of what they were delving in, the Orokin none-the-less were able to garner enough to alter themselves into a genetically heightened class of elites, eventually developing the process they called the Continuity; a method of transferring their consciousness and soul from one body into a new one. While cloning was the simpler method for their route to immortality, there was a sense of power and dominance in taking the body of others. The social bearing of their world was altered, and they further hid the origins of their now almost mythical knowledge.

Over the course of thousands of years, as their own prowess expanded and their meager star system was slowly stripped of mineral and material resources, the Orokin eventually realized that their home planet and the other worlds of their star system would not be be able to sustain them, and so efforts began to study the advanced interstellar drives of the Chozo ships hidden by the ancient Orokin leaders even as the biotech engineers of their kind developed a strange new biomechanical life form that became part of a plan to prepare the nearby Tau Chi System for their eventual transition. While the biomachines were sent via slo-ship capable of relativistic speeds of one-eighth the speed of light, a journey of almost ninety-six years one way, efforts were undertaken to reverse engineer the powerful flux drives of the Chozo in order to break the barrier of FTL travel, not understanding the need for the very Aetherite crystals they had shattered in their zealous ignorance when they had betrayed their Chozo benefactors. When this failed them, divine intervention seemed to hand them everything as the massive drive section of a mysterious vessel appeared just outside the orbit of their homeworld. Within was a strange engine drive, one that, once studied, was realized to be the very thing they needed to complete their goal. Recreating the gravitational fold drive, their efforts were realized with a ship called the Zariman Ten-Zero, a colony vessel expected to be able to transition beyond lightspeed and reach the Tau Chi System within years instead of centuries. This all transpired eight centuries ago, and the truth became a nightmare of history and legend...
