Why do I keep running into green-zone specimens? Why haven't I requisitioned proper G-Z equipment?
These thoughts flickered through Seeker's awareness as he looked at the molasses-like flow of physical time, The great beast before him slowly rearing up presumably to attack. That would be suboptimal, given that the massive energy beam presumably came from said beast. One arm would flick back to the High Explosive canister on his belt, motors and fibers straining to keep up with their commands, and the Automaton would pull the tab and yeet the live grenade at the beast's wide maw with machine precision. He didn't expect it to cause fatality, given the fact the thing could belch coherent plasma beams, but startling/interrupting it would provide some much needed time to flee.
The beast had been kind enough to open an escape route, even if the lack of depressurization indicated a lack of access to the outside, it still led away from the current deathtrap situation, it was time to run. The Imperial would engage his grav-harness and leap up into the new passage, and send a message to the White-Haired One's vessel.
"New Incomplete Egress Point, recommend focusing fire on the end of this tunnel, thermals should provide adequate targeting information."
The grenade made a precision arc, catching in the creature's mandibles as it breathed in, and detonating with enough force to disrupt the charging forces within the beast. It roared angrily, now showing bits of muscle under the blown pit flesh as it would charge at the pair of small bipedal intruders.
Despite gravity fields being sustained by the back up reactors, the frigate would shift as it was grabbed further by the planet's own gravitational pull, causing the vessel's mass to turn enough to disrupt the internal gravitational equilibrium. The massive beast stumbled, smashing through a series of computer banks, then regained its footing to bellow at the humanoids.

Eliza cursed under her breath as she sprinted down the winding corridor, fleeing with growing desperation from the whatever it was that was tearing through the decks with the fury of a fallen angel. Why was it always the derelicts that were so utterly fucked? she thought irritably, though she soon found herself facing a greater problem as the doors sealed ahead. "Seeker, I donna think tear gas is much gannin ta- holy fuck!" she swore explosively as a pillar of verdant energy cut through the deck behind and beneath her, continuing on through the exterior of the frigate unimpeded. "Oh..well arna ye jist a massive mess of ugly?" she groaned as she regained her footing to stare at the impossibly massive creature.
Aboard the Dancing Goddess, Veska's eyes widened in alarm as warning systems alerted her to numerous weapons powering up to unleash a veritable hellstorm upon the much smaller and lightly armored vessel, then blinked as confusion followed when just as swiftly, the aforementioned impending destruction halted before it even began. "Alright, that was odd," she muttered as she glanced back at the sensor display. "Eliza, what just happennnnever mind I got my answer, arming missiles now," she announced as she saw the radiation scan spike in exceedingly close proximity to her friend. At least such a brilliant display would make it easy to target, even with munitions typically reserved for ground targets.
"Aye, that would be fuckin' amazin' right about now. Got a godsdamned Godzilla bug here, and we need an egress point."
Veska frowned at the reference, not fully understanding it, but clearly things were getting more than a little hairy aboard the frigate, and with Eliza's implied order in mind, the gynoid quickly armed and fired a one-two punch of a thermite missile, followed by the hypersonic penetrator, hoping to breach a tunnel clear and possibly even neutralize this strange monstrosity.
Oh, OH, the glorious sounds of his labors at work, preparing complete, utter destruction.. And then the immediate tease as they suddenly deactivated, the sounds of the frigate powering down from.. Something. Whatever it was, it was interfering with his kills. And that was simply unacceptable. None are allowed to do such. It is, as they say... What do they say again? Whatever, something's dying this cycle and it's not going to be him.
With a more desperate charge through, yet not one out of fear, rather, anger, sadism, general Ridley things.
With his speed he crashes through the door, standing tall, his overgrown, excess, disgusting flesh shown for all eyes to painfully see, turning and cracking his neck as his eyes looked to the behemoth that stood on it's claws, then to the two smaller organisms he had been chasing this whole time.. Clearly they hadn't shut it down, as they had been running the whole time.. So the big one is most likely what had ruined his fun.. This creature his AI had already informed him after he sacked the place, was an experiment of theirs. Which means if the Kromus kept it controlled, it was nothing but a pitiful creature.. No.. It was a punching bag now. He didn't care what they altered or augmented.
He looked to the two humans with a terrifying grin.
"You two have no idea how lucky today is for you fleas. You get to live just a bit longer, so go to your masters like good slaves and tell them everything you've seen on this ship." He spoke with delight, and oddly enough, joy towards them, before moving his vision back onto the monstrosity.
"Look at you, you adorably pathetic thing! You've ruined my Frigate! Of course, I best receive a token of gratitude from you, after all. You'd be starved and caged if not for me- So, then, follow one last order from the Leader of your captors: Die slowly, you insignificant gnat."
With an outstretch of his wings, he charged the beast with claws readied and fangs prepared to tear, yet he found this action, for whatever reason, delayed. A minor inconvenience for his bloodlust has been denied far too many times in such short amounts of time!
This was getting out of hand, now there were two of them.
Seeker flipped through several different potential plans for expediting escape, and settled on one that might be crazy enough to work. The likelihood of destruction wasn't appreciably increased given the already near 100% chance in the event of failed escape/capture. It would have to do.
One thermobaric grenade, it would have to be cooked and thrown "below" Eliza and he in the slagged tunnel, hopefully the blast wave would push them farther out whilst their shielding prevented pulverization. He wasn't too concerned about his own survival, given his sturdy construction, but the other was all soft beneath the metallic carapace.
He knew the timer, and he knew his strength, he pulled the canister off his belt and pulled the tab. A couple seconds later and the grenade would be yote past Eliza's head towards the point where they entered the slagged passageway, detonating midair to release a several meter diameter cloud of solid fuel-powder moments before a secondary charge ignited said cloud as every speck of dust incinerated almost instantly creating a rather powerful pressure-wave.
The machine would wait for the coming storm, hoping to ride it out.
Caught now between two behemoths. One was a twenty-one meter long monster, capable of breathing radiation, able to move far faster than its bulk would suggest, and clearly angry.
The other was a ghost that no one who had lived through the time of the Kromus War wanted to see ever return.
The thermobaric grenade was sent to the planned point, and as the two humanoids would hurry into the melted open hole in the wall, the resultant explosion would hurl them further into the makeshift tunnel. It allowed the pair a reprieve from the present vice they had found themselves in, but the roars and screeches of the two titans was not at all comforting in the situation.
And then the entire ship would shake as its hull was impacted by a pair of exploding ballistics and then a solid kinetic penetrator that pushed the frigate further off course and into a fall toward the planet below.

Eliza froze for a moment as she beheld the draconic entity, twisted, yet unmistakable from countless holovids from the war mere decades ago, an entity she had feared ever since the brief encounter with the equally feared warship he commanded. "Right then. Ye have fun with that, I'm jist gannin ta fuck off now," she hastily answered, then bolted after her mechanical compatriot without further delay. She might have berated Seeker for his mad plan of escape, but she was simply too shocked by the horrific revelation of Ridley's continued survival.
"Veska, be advised, Ridley is alive in proximity. I say again, Ridley is here," she announced across the comms, then swore as the ship rocked violently, twisting under the missile impacts. "Well, he was at very least until that. Keep guns hot and be ready fer EVA retrieval."
From her chair, the gynoid groaned her displeasure, preparing additional encrypted messages for both DAW and D-MODA, attaching video data from Eliza's helmet cam. "Understood. I'm alerting our employers now. Moving to intercept. Where are you exiting? Ship's falling, so better make it quick," Veska warned as she completed the messages and transmitted them, then guided the sleek transport closer to the landing platform to ready for retrieval and to provide cover for Alex's much smaller modified fighter.
Given his position within the air, he had yet to feel the spinning sensation of the ship- Though he wasn't with ignorance of the state of it all, something to note for the pair of pathetic organisms, watching as his much larger prey would lose it's footing, moving with the rotation of the entire Frigate, his claws instead tearing through the wall and sending him into another room. This was not the end of his attacks, as, since being in the air would make his hunt more difficult, he emerged from the hole he made, latching to the metal walls, eyes turning for the creature, moving himself along the wall as it continued to spin and spin-
SYSTEMS RESTORED. INITIATING NERVELOCK.
Yet as he moved, the mechanisms of his robotic parts slowed, until finally halting, his organic parts soon following suit, as the AI managed to regain it's control, freezing him in place. He bared his teeth, clenching them against each other, as he was practically frozen in place.. He began to growl, roaring to himself.. "WHEN I GET THIS DONE, I'M VISITING THE HIGH COUNCIL AND MAKING THEM REGRET EVERY MOMENT OF LIVING..!!"
The massive creature snarled, clicking its mandibles together, then charged at the now immobile dragonoid, bringing the full force of its bulk slamming into the cyborg while ignoring the tiny two legged things that had vanished into the tunnels its breath had created. The creature latched the lamprey maw on its elongated tail to the dragonoid's leg, pulling hard now to fling the cyborg aside before giving a snap and growl that preceded the revving spool up sound deep into its chest.
Green light began to build up in the depths of its maw, charging now while it closed on the metal layered abomination. Viridian smoke escaped from between its jaws and mandibles, and the final pulsing sound would build to its crescendo.
This all left the two bipedal humanoids enough free leave to make their escape as they could see fit, and unlike their entry, their departure was aided by the internal layouts obtained when they had dumped all data to mobile storage.

If the situation weren't so immediately dire, Eliza might have laughed at the sheer ridiculousness of being propelled down a corridor by their own explosives. As it was, she was occupied with her HUD, examining the interior layout of the frigate in order to account for any potential hazards as they exited the dying ship while still keeping to the shortest path. A few doors were present, it appeared, though it didn't appear that they'd fully sealed. The most obvious point seemed to be the breach created by the missile strikes.
"Veska, makin' fer th' breach now. We need ta pull back and regroup while we wait fer further orders," she announced as she drew her plasma saber and activated it and the companion dagger in her left gauntlet. "Check th' probe data, otherwise, we'll need ta make a few Slipspace jumps. Alex, pull back, we'll provide escort once we're safely aboard." The Witch fell silent for several minutes after as she focused on the mad dash towards the impact zone, carving through partially sealed doors in a flourish of white-hot plasma with ruthless efficiency, trusting Seeker to keep up without any need to check on his presence.
Aboard the slender transport, Veska maneuvered to hold position over the breach in the frigate, though the swiftness at which their orbit was decaying alarmed her. To occupy her artificial mind with something less distressing, she focused on Eliza's command to review the probe data. She didn't expect much in the way of useful results so soon after their departure. As a result, the gynoid found herself quite surprised to discover at least one promising result. How they'd managed to be so fortunate, Veska couldn't fathom, but she recorded the data into the Dancing Goddess's navicomputer. "Good news, Eliza. We've got a jump point, looks to go all the way back into GalFed space, linked to a rather sizable singularity in this region," she informed her friend. "So what's your ETA looking like?"
"Looks like we're jist about ta th' side of th' breach," Eliza replied as she consulted the map she'd downloaded, then proceeded to plunge her saber through the alloy once more. "Seeker, decompression imminent. If ye have any zero-g maneuverin' gear, now's th' time ta bring it online. Veska, get a course plotted ta that singularity. Might be risky, but I think it'll be more risky ta stay around without backup."
"Understood, plotting out Slipspace jump now. Do hurry, though. I fear if you delay much longer, you'll be inside the ship when it hits atmosphere, and I doubt any of us would enjoy that."
"Aye, no shite, Ves. Alright Seeker, let's gan!" Eliza called as she swept her saber through the same arc she'd used to breach all the previous barrier in their mad dash out of this death trap, then began to maneuver with her inertia to push off of the sides of the missile crater in order to propel herself clear of the wreck.
The atmospheric pressure would burst as the compression seals in the door would melt open at the touch of the woman's plasma blade. As the witch and the remnant would maneuver through the missile blown breach, realization would hit that they were not just in a free fall toward the planet, but also in a spin from the force of the blast that blew open their very exit.
The seventy-six meter long transport was managing to keep pace and alignment with the opening, a feat most would consider all but impossible for any human save the most skilled of pilots. Fortunately for the mercenary pair, as proven by the precision maneuvers of the Dancing Goddess and timing of the open cargo hold, their pilot decisively was not human. Once aboard, the two would find the hatch closing behind them, atmosphere slowly restored.
It was time to leave and get their Intel back to the Spur.
The world would snap back to it's usual pace moments after seeker touched down in the Goddess' bay as he slowed down his processes to the human standard, the immediate threat was now out of his hands, and it wouldn't do to go mad from idleness so soon after escaping oblivion.
"Now that we are free, this one would request permission to read through the data again, after a short period to tend to oneself of course."
The NDA never said anything about what came after the job, and the folks back home would need to get their hands on this to ensure national security in the coming age. This was turning into a rather productive vacation. Standing up from the rather undignified heap he had landed in, he would make his way to whatever equivalent of a lounge the ship had.

Eliza nodded a brief affirmative as she rushed to the command center of the ship, then motioned for him to take a seat at a console to the side of the cabin. "Veska, route that data we retrieved ta th' secondary console fer Seeker, along wi all documentation we have on Ridley, th' Kromus, and th' Cunnin' Death," she ordered as she slid into her own seat. "Oh, lovely, jump's all ready ta gan," she remarked as she finally took a moment to relax. "Alright, let's get th' fuck out of here," the Witch muttered as she initiated the Slipspace drive, propelling the Dancing Goddess out of realspace and away from the terrors behind them. Once fully underway, she briefly looked over the jump point they'd discovered, then turned to Seeker. "Na sure what yer Empire is, but they might want ta be advised on what we've found here. We've a couple of hours, looks like, so I'm gannin ta have a look at this data myself. If ye've any questions, feel free ta ask Veska or myself. Oh, and th' main leg of th' trip back might be dangerous, so make sure ta send any messages ta yer people before we reach th' jump point, aye?"
THE RECOVERED KROMUS FILES WERE TURNED OVER TO THE CONFEDERATION'S DEPARTMENT OF ADVANCED WARFARE AND TO THE FEDERATION DEPARTMENT FOR MILITARY OVERSIGHT AND DEFENSE AFFAIRS.
THE MERCENARIES RECEIVED THEIR PROMISED PAYMENTS, RANKING ACCRUMENTS, AND THE MISSION WAS CLASSIFIED UNDER CODE BLACK.
