May 2023 It's been hectic this last year, but we are alive and celebrating our fifth year of adventure and tales. A lot has been worked on to help make the Monoverse one that everyone can enjoy and explore their story while becoming a part of the greater cosmos. All of you, new and long time players, stay safe, and see you in the Sea of Stars!
Averting his eyes as to avoid the flash so his lenses didn't try to compensate for the sudden brightness, Eresh would then put himself between Lemon and the pirates once he heard her guns go silent. "Reload, and tell me when you are ready to shoot again!"
The Mawkin would then let out a harsh, shrieking warcry at the Kromus, bringing his rifle to bear and firing at the batta, though his attention also turned to the devil spawn from Urtraghus. "Disable that shield, overload it! Don't let these pathetic insects muster!" he shouted as he continued to fire, hissing almost ferally.
Queen summoned her melee weapons, deadly looking brass knuckles created by her rebellious spirit. She turned to the nearest Kromus, her fear replaced by a burning resolve. These creatures looked exactly like the Shadows prowling Mementos. Had she really been afraid of these insects?
The Shujin Academy graduate rolled to avoid any plasma shots and made a beeline for the enemy using his brother as a meat shield.
Once he finished unloading a volley of shots she leapt into the air, vaulting over the corpse he was holding and sent a spinning heel kick full force right at his head. Given that he was pinned between the body and the wall, Makoto doubted he had time to counter.
Not being able to see or hear didn't stop Lemon from reloading her gun and venting the plasma weapon's heat sink. The Sensory shock helped to somewhat snap her out of the complete breakdown, though far from recovered she clamped down on the shaking and pulled her thoughts together. Whatever the things were, she could shoot them, she flicked on her shield unit and crawled around behind the cloud of thought-static she could sense right next to her while she waited for the world to stop ringing and her shields to finish charging.

The blast of the flashbang instilled instant dizziness and nausea, something Tycho was more than used to. The implants bore the brunt of everything his own body couldn't handle, making gritting his fangs and steeling through the rest of it not terrible.
He pulled the trigger on his handcannon a fourth time, lifting his head back up and bracing to fire, only to be met with a sudden off-key mechanical whine and a crackle of discharge. Cartridge failure. Of course. He grumbled out a swear in his native tongue and passed the sizzling weapon to his offhand, drawing the backup handgun from its holster and ripping shots of .45 down the hall instead. One-handed accuracy was good enough to just throw kinetic energy at a shield, for as much good as the weapon's absolutely glacial muzzle velocity could do.
When he paused to throw the Burya in his drop-pouch and switch magazines, Tycho caught the shimmer of Queen summoning knuckledusters from... thin air? Hardly the weirdest thing he'd seen today, but still enough so to make him pause. Credit was due for the impressive acrobatics that followed, but it still made his nerves jump.
"Queen! Fucking-" He barked, thumbing a magazine into place and looking to Lemon- she still seemed too out of it to stand, yet she was loading her mean-looking wartech with an instinct he knew all too well. "Check your fire, cat, she's in melee!"
The Batta kromus used their Urtrahgan leader and its shield as cover from the oncoming fire, moving out and firing a series of plasmic bolts that burned through the air in return fire. The other Qymor roared as it dove in itself, using the barely existent lighting to give itself some visual cover even as its fellow kromus were finding position to fire at the group of intruders.
Meanwhile, the Qymor that was holding its wounded compatriot as a shield managed to shift his own body to put the wounded Batta between it and the human who seemed to be attempting to jump high enough to kick it in the head. Given that the Qymor was already over eight feet tall, it wasn't difficult to keep its own head out of range while reaching to grab the human with its free hand.
Eresh glanced down as Lemon crawled around him, and he would then say “Stay low, the hostile are focusing on the other two,” and his attention snapped to see Queen attempting to engage close combat with her target thanks to Tycho’s outburst. Thinking quickly, he would take a few strides forward and engaged his Grapple Beam, and launched the tether towards the pirates armored arm. Should it magnetize, he aimed to yank back as hard as he could.. hoping to give the young human thr opening she needed.

Tycho dove prone, hoping to minimize the amount of his body that could be hit. With Queen in melee, he knew he'd have to be nothing short of surgical with anything more sent downrange, and that just wasn't possible with his little handgun. The thing was hastily holstered and replaced with the rifle from his back, bracing against the floor instead of the wall and thumbing the weapon's optic to 1x.
If he couldn't do much to overwhelm these creatures, maybe something a little more precise would be the better move. No time was wasted- he could see the Qymor in a tango with the young human shifting its weight to make a grab at her. The Vlaka sighted over the armored carapace and sent a round, hoping to at least stagger (or distract) the creature for long enough for it to keep its hands off Queen. He didn't know what Eresh's grapple beam was or what it could do, but maybe a well-timed stagger would help the weapon land...
Blinking away the spots in her vision, Lemon tried to make out what was going on down the hall, someone had gone and engaged in melee of all things. Bringing her M6S back to bear, she looked for any openings to get a headshot in, the smartlink reticle swaying over the mass of hideous chitin and whatever else those things were covered in. She stayed behind the birdman, even if her shields were up, his armour looked a hell of a lot more sturdy.
Queen was only able to watch as the beast attempted to grab her from the air. Sure he was much taller than her, but she wasn’t aiming for his head. She heard the weapons of her comrades fire, and prayed that one bolt would knock her foe off balance so she could get her strike in.
A snarl as the Qymor felt its free hand pull back. It turned its head quickly to see the large avian that was actually taller than itself, and then took a moment to realize that it was looking at a Chozo. A young and capable in combat Chozo.
"Pa eye! Chozo un, bi su ode!"
Another Qymor would turn its head and see what the other had barked about, now turning its weapon arm toward the Mawkin and firing the searing red bolts of charged energy at him. A crack resonated as the canine humanoid fired his rifle, the shot impacting just off from the first Qymor's head and leaving a sizable impact in the wall. It was enough to distract it from Eresh, as well as give Queen the opening to land a hard kick to the Qymor she had positioned herself aside and land a solid hit to his abdomen. A dry crack could be heard as the two and a half meter tall alien gave a pained snarl, then reached out with its free hand while the grafted on particle gun began charging to fire.
The Batta screeched as they dove in. Pincer claws snapped as they opened fire on the group of mercenaries, plasmic biobeams burning through the air ahead of them as the clawhanded pair closed the distance between them and the hunters.
And the Urtrahgan simply barked orders as it maintained its shield and readied its own weapons to fire.
The ugly-ass claw-hand ones were running forward like fools, and Lemon barked out several SAP-HE rounds in the general direction of their faces hoping for a lucky hit while she pointed her plasma-gun at the big one's shield and fired as fast as she could from behind her chozo body-shield. She was absolutely baffled by the human lass' leaping directly into the reach of enemies that were obviously physically superior, the balls on that one must weigh half a ton, or maybe the brains were left at home, the Jury was still out on that one.
"Getcher arse outa tha line o' fire, those things'll snap ya in half the second they connect!"

Tycho scrambled to his feet, just as quickly has he dove. One stabilized shot was all he needed, and as much as he'd rather stand his ground, it wasn't looking like the smart option when the guns on them were bigger than his. He bolted a handful of meters down the corridor away from the advancing pirates, before turning with a skid against the metal floor to fall to a knee and try for another shot.
Upon hearing the second crack, it occurred to him that the human girl just squared up with something twice her size, threw one blow, and the big guy was the one to stagger. There was a moment where he just... blinked, looking down the rifle's optic, taken aback. Goddamn, girl.
Just as quickly, he shook his head and shifted his attention to those among the pirates that charged them, only to wonder if they were really his biggest threat. Lemon was a storm of deterrent gunfire, closer-range than him, and Eresh could probably tank them in melee-- the only one of them who knew what to expect. Tycho shifted his aim to the ones at range, past Makoto and the others, putting a handful of shots down the hall with a slower cadence. He tried for precision, probing for weak points if he could hit them... eyes, armor seams, joints. Maybe the guns themselves? What would happen if he could manage to hit one of those things as it was going to fire...?
Eresh would narrow his eyes behind his lenses: it seemed that these pirates were now realizing what they were dealing with. Not dwelling too much on that fact, he would again yank back hard with his grapple beam, attempting to keep his ensnared opponent off balance as he noticed the pirate taking aim and firing at him specifically.
For a moment he considered moving to the side to throw off its aim, though he was acutely aware that if he did, he would be exposing Lemon to enemy fire. Bracing himself, he would allow those shots to impact his shields- stumbling backwards from the force. But that was when his free hand unholstered his sidearm- a massive coil pistol. With one final tug of his grapplebeam he would disengage the tether.. bringing both hands up to stabilize the pistol as he then fired once, and then twice at the two clawed batta, aiming for their center masses.
Makoto had barely a second to rip off her mask, which allowed a pillar of light to strike her from the heavens and more than likely blind every enemy there. When it faded, Queen was now riding a futuristic motorcycle, glowing with magical power. The mere appearance of the new vehicle was certainly spectacular, but it would have an added effect when Queen would rev the vehicle’s throttle, enacting a spell for her team.
”Marakukaja!”
Charging Johanna with her magic, Queen cast one of her many spells, increasing her allies’ defense and strength. Each member’s shields (energy or physical) as well as armor was completely repaired of all damage to full, almost as if their wish had been granted. They would also feel their bodies strengthen, almost as if they could take more damage than usual…
The Phantom Thief may have removed her mask, but her true form had been revealed to the stars. Now was the time to do her part.
The Qymor screeched as its weapon arm was yanked aside. It tried to steady itself, but the second such pull took it off balance and forced it to drop the now pummeled lifeless corpse of its former fellow. This, however, as the tether beam released from its weapon arm, gave it both limbs free.
The magnetically accelerated rounds fired by the avian mercenary tore through the air and impacted on their targets after only a split second from when the crack of super sonic velocities split the air. Instantly, chitin cracked and exploded from the impacts, throwing both Kromus pirates back down the hall as they'd had little to cover behind in their move to attack, However, while one of them was now crashing into a slide on the ground with a fist sized hole in its front, the other had managed to survive by barely blocking the shot with its right pincer claws, though that was now smashed and torn apart, along with the outer side of its torso that have been still caught by the ballistic round.
The Urtrahgan snarled while the other Qymor moved to return fire, the eel faced Kromus raising its own firearm and unleashing a series of rounds at the canine hominid. The larger mercenaries were, to the Kromus, the clearly greater danger, and more so, one of them was by all appearances a Chozo. A young and battle capable Chozo. It rattled its mandible jaws, hissing an angry series of sounds that one would assume were Kromus insults and orders to its fellows.
And then the human female somehow called a two-wheeled vehicle out of nothingness. Priorities changed very quickly as the Urtrahgan barked new commands, its mandibles clicking with the hissed out orders even while it aimed at the human mounted on her motorcycle and began to open fire on her. "Luko obinrin yaneni!"
A young and hale Chozo was a concern, but this human was summoning heavy vehicles from thin air and causing some kind of light show that was clearly not mere optical projections. That was not to be left be as merely trivial.
