That next burst of speed was much quicker than Eresh anticipated, and though he was caught he wouldn’t let it do so without a shriek of outrage and a series of additions kicks as he tried to dig his metal sheathed talons wherever he could reach. The next moment was the feeling of friction and the sensation of momentary weightlessness as he glared at the now further away abomination…
When the violently sudden stop stunned him.
For a moment there wasn’t much in the way of pain, not really: the air was knocked from his lungs and both of his hearts began hammering from the surge of adrenaline. But when he fell to the tarmac and heard the crunch, the searing pain that was all too familiar of a broken bone flooded his nerves. The Mawkin rolled off of his injured side.. hissing as he did so.. hoping that nothing else was punctured as he now leaned against the landing strut of his ship. That was when he belatedly realized that was what he was impacted; his ship. Then he cranes his head down to see the beast prowling towards him again, and on the comms he would laboriously call in
++” I. Hope you have. A proper. Shot.”++ he said in deliberately short bursts , doing his best to catch his breath as one arm was curled protectively around himself while the other reached for his belt, gingers grasping his last Hail Mary:
A flash bang.
++”I will. Try to. Make an. Opening.”++ he said as he waited for the corrupted Chozo to get closer.. closer..
Without even attempting to activate his input dampeners he rolled the flash bang between him and the beast, pin still around one finger.

Tycho couldn't help but instinctively flinch when Eresh would be sent flying his way, impacting the shit itself to the Vlaka's surprise. He suddenly had concerns that this ship's guns would do more harm than good with the discharge being so close to the Mawkin, but with this beast still alive and with their time rapidly running out, there wouldn't be any time to waste.
Initiating a firing sequence without anymore hesitation, his claws danced hesitantly on the final command until the flashbang would go off... seizing the opening made for him, and hoping it not to be in vain.
The plasma cannons would fire first, followed by the rockets only if the main guns were to knock the beast back a safe enough distance...

The monstrosity gave a deep resonating series of chuffs, like laughter, as it closed in again on the Mawkin. The sky was brightening to nearly daylight levels as the far distant explosion of the Zeta Aurigae binary continued to approach. And then the flash as it screeched in reaction to the flashbang grenade going off, taking a step back with its hind legs. It was still trying to recover from the disorientation when the mawkin craft's plasma guns roared to life, sending a pair of intense bolts flying from the barrels. They overshot their intended target, slamming into the entryway of the Faro facility and flaring out with the impact while the heavy doors collapsed under the heat and force of the plasma bolts.
Another series of bursts roared from the barrels of the plasma guns, drowning out the screeches of the former Chozo while it struggled to recover from the flashbang. Most flew past the horror and into the Faro complex, causing the building to buckle and begin to collapse, all while the abomination began to regain its composure. But a bolt managed to fly low, slamming into the deck and causing the planting to melt and twist, another such blast hitting the same area as a groan would emanate from the landing deck's structure. Another round impacted the deck, and then a pair of rockets would tear through the air after the creature continued to withdraw and slammed into the deck, causing it to cave in and collapse beneath it.
The mawkin had, perhaps, this one chance to make his own retreat into his ship. They were out of time for delays. They had to escape, now.
Eresh turned his head just in time to avoid the worst of the flash, the muted sound of his ship’s guns caused him to turn back to see what was happening. For a moment he was almost disappointed in the lack of visceral dismemberment from the plasma weapons, but after seeing the result he couldn’t find much to complain about. The increasingly blinding luminance on the other hand..
Getting up with a hiss, Eresh would half climb, half crawl into the ship.. slamming his fist against the hatch controls. He would quickly move to his seat, priming the engines with a vocal command as he sat.. grimacing as he felt his ribs shift. Fighting back a shudder, he would take the controls.
“We are leaving.”
Within a minute the ship was then in the air.. rapidly approaching escape velocity as they rose higher into the atmosphere.. but the brightness of the exploding star did not abate.. they were cutting it close. Once they broke free and a set of coordinates were in place, Eresh glanced at the other two over his shoulder. “We are jumping.. in four. Three. Two-“ and then the ship was gone, swallowed into subspace as they left the Hell of Auriga behind.

A ragged claw rose from the still cooling hole left in the deck. There was labored breathing as the creature managed to pull itself back up, its skin burnt and bleeding, but it was still alive. Those empty eyes saw that its previous prey was gone, as was the craft that had fired at it. A hiss emanated from its throat, its beak clicking again as those eyes looked toward the brightening sky, just enough that it saw the rapidly departing craft. It had lost its prey, and they had escaped.
And yet, it laughed. The imminent end was visible in the sky as the expanding wave of energy and plasmic gasses made their trek from the source point of the nova, still days away from tearing the planet apart on impact. Yet it laughed.
“I'm just sorry that I could not be here in person to study you before you're blasted apart into dust in the solar winds.”
The creature choked on its laugh, turning to see a figure standing behind it. Black robes, feathers as pitch as the void of space with splotches of red that appeared like they had been dipped in blood. And red eyes that seemed to glow from within. They flickered a moment, revealing themselves to be just a projection. They weren't really there.
Yet the creature found itself snarling, the sense that it knew this pitch feathered figure. That somehow, they had been responsible for so much that had happened to it.
“I recovered enough though. Let you and those self-loathing fools be claimed by the void. The Thó'ha will die out, and we will reclaim what belongs to us.”
And then, as the once-a-Chozo gave a guttural screech, the projection vanished, but not before the corners of the black beak curled back into a malicious smile.
