Physical Appearance: Samus is a young woman with a mostly muscular build, broad shoulders and a thick waist. Her face contrasts her physical build with softer features, wide blue-green eyes, and round cheeks that still have some baby fat. There is also a set of scars that run over her left eye and cheek that she's had since the massacre of K-2L. Her blonde hair is typically tied back in a ponytail with a red ribbon while her face is framed with several thick strands of hair. Typically, she has patches of soft blonde-white feathers that grow interspersed with the wisp hairs on the back of her neck.
Usual Attire: Samus is most comfortable in as casual clothing as she can wear, and often avoids formal or uniform attire if possible. She often wears a shorts and tank-top combo with an active vest and combat boots. The reason for this is function and comfort, less about fashion. The famous “Zero Suit" is actually a lightly plated combat under suit called Zero Armor, and is necessary to summon and interface with her Chozo Powered Suit. She also has a number of track suit style shorts and sports top outfits that she occasional wears as an alternative to her normal casual attire.
Inventory: Chozo Powered Suit combat armor, Paralyzer side blaster
Personality Details: Samus is an ISFP personality, known as "The Adventurer." Beyond this, she is prone to exhibit very bird-like mannerisms, has a habit of speaking in Chozia when not thinking or very flustered, and she is slow to catch on to human idioms and cultural references. She is easily excitable, especially when comfortable around friends. Sometimes Samus can be socially awkward due to her Chozo upbringing.
Backstory: Born in Coven City, Iowa, to John and Virginia Aran in the last year of the Kromus War, Samus was exposed to various non-human species within her first year after the family move to the Terran mining colony K-2L. Her father, a former ÆSIR officer turned colonial engineer and security chief, tended to be the person most often dealing with the off world visitors, particularly the Chozo Maru, a friend of her father's, who was ironically nicknamed “Old Bird” by the humans. This introduced Samus very early on in her life to the Bird People of Zebes, and would shape her future.
When she was three years old, Samus was exposed to the events that would shape her mind and soul for years to come; the invasion of K-2L. A Space Pirate raiding party, led by the draconic alien Ridley, destroyed her home, and her mother was murdered in front of her by Ridley. Her father died in attempt to take Ridley out, using his old pulse rifle and overloading an explosives bandolier in a kamikaze attack. In the aftermath, Samus was found and rescued by Maru, who took her to the Chozo’s home on Zebes and began to treat her with DNA infusion of his own genetic code to help her become stronger and adaptable to the harsh biosphere of Zebes. Despite belief by the Chozo’s super computer, the Mother Brain, that Samus would not be able to survive and would die within weeks, Aran not only adapted her new environment, but began to exceed even the best expectations.
As the child became an adolescent, so did the Chozo realize that Samus was pushing herself further and further in pursuit of never letting her tragedy repeat itself. To that end, perhaps realizing the meaning of an prophecy from the ancient peak of their own Ancestors, Maru designed a quantum-mechanical powered armor suit for Samus, constructed by the Mother Brain and the Tourian foundries, and began to train her as best he could in the ancient ways of the Chozo’s warrior ancestors. This led to the day, shortly after her fourteenth birthday, that Samus left the Chozo and Zebes to return to her birthplace of Terra, and rejoined human civilization, despite finding she was very much an outsider. She quickly found her father’s legacy helped her find friends in the Malkoviches and Admiral Castor Dane, whom had not only served as a commanding officer to her father, but also sympathized with her as someone who also lost their family to the Space Pirates. She was enrolled in the Confederation Army Academy with Admirel Dane's aid, where she met the Malkovich Brothers and several of Adam's unit, including Anthony Higgs, as part of her field training and practical command learning.
Even early on as those early days, Samus found Ian to be a special friend beyond the few others she made, and when he was killed in a Repair and Rescue mission that went wrong and claimed four others, she took the loss harder than and, withdrew from the officer academy, and returned to Zebes at seventeen to resume her learning with her adopted father and escape the pain of losing such a close friend. For several months, Samus made every effort to reintegrate into Chozo society, but that all came crashing to a horrifying end when the Kromus Space Pirates invaded, led by the thought dead Ridley, and a majority of the Zebes Nest was killed while Maru sent Samus to safety along with her Powered Suit in a special gunship. Following an attempt by the Confederation to storm Zebes ending in disaster, Samus was able to convince Admiral Dane and Federation Chairman Kea'ton to let her infiltrate the planet and free the remaining Chozo. Following her ship being shot down over Crateria and her infiltration of the Zebesian subterranean caverns, Samus eventually made her way into the server complex of Tourian, destroyed the Metroid cloning facility, and eliminated the Mother Brain.

Augmentation Data: Samus was enhanced at a very young age via genetic infusion of DNA and genome material donated by Maru. While the intention was to allow Samus increased survival and physical adaptability, the young age from which her genetic treatments began and set in increased not only her survival factors, but fundamentally altered her genetic structure to the point that Samus is essentially a full hybrid of half-Chozo genotype. Her skeletal structure has slowly changed from solid type to hyper-dense hollow latticed bones, similar to the Chozo, while her muscle density increased as well by opening up stronger fiber ratios and increasing her physical strength well above the norm for her size and physical stature. Her lift capacity has risen to a factor of five and a half times that of a human female of her body mass in Olympian training state, able to bench press upward of 1,000 pounds, while her reaction and reflex speeds are five times that of a normal human, and she has a paced running speed of 35 miles an hour, with a minute sustained sprint of 55 miles an hour, and jumping capability that has reached thirteen feet for a straight powered vertical jump, and a twenty-five feet horizontal leap within gravitational conditions similar to Terra. Her body also heals at a higher rate than normal humans, and the increase in her metabolic rate makes Samus resistant to many toxins and poisons, as well as the effects of alcohol, making it very difficult for her to get inebriated. In addition to the physical abilities, Samus has inherited a minor form of the rare Chozo precognitive “Distant Sight" gift, one that gives her a momentary “sense" of danger just before something might strike her. It’s not a perfect internal warning, as even if she senses something, Samus still can’t perfectly react to every attack that comes at her.
Based on the war armors of the Ancient Chozo warriors, the Powered Suit was none-the-less designed with an emphasis on defense of the user and mobility. While constructed within the Tourian foundries by the Mother Brain, the suit was designed by Samus' adopted father, Maru, as a defensive weapons platform to aid in Samus' desire to prevent the tragedy that befell her from happening to others. In functionary design, the Powered Suit is able to assimilate new suit features and weapons via specially designed modules, as well as incorporating foreign technologies.
ARMOR CLASS
Class: Chozo Powered Combat Suit, Va'kiru-my variation Height and Weight: 190 cm, 90 kg Any additional Info: Being constructed of an advanced nanolaminate osmium based alloy and Chozo construction methods, the powered suit is amazingly light-weight compared to equivalent Terran built Powered Armors, allowing greater movement and tighter motions, and being able to withstand temperatures of up to 400° centigrade before heat bleed to the user occurs. The Powered Suit possesses a recall trans-location feature to and from a physical containment chamber when not in use, and is connected via the base armor undersuit, nicknamed “Zero Armor”, which acts as a light suit of body armor in emergency situations. Without this Zero Armor, or a similarly synchronized techsuit, the Armor cannot be called to the user.
ARMAMENTS AND DEFENSES
Offensive Systems
The Powered Suit comes equipped with an arm cannon capable of a variable beam system. This variable beam system is by default equipped with a Chozo power beam, and includes an overcharge feature to increase beam damage and effect. The power beam is a Chozo designed accelerated proton pulse weapon with a range of about seventy to one hundred meters, and has a standard burst output of 150 kilojoules kinetic impact power and reaching tempratures in excess of 500 degrees celsius per shot, easily causing third degree burns to unshielded organic matter on impact, vapor evaporating impacted fluids, and is able to be increased ten times the normal impact power when fully overcharged via the charge beam feature. Against shielded targets, the power beam would take approximately six to eight uncharged bursts to collapse personal shields equivalent to a Sangheili combat harness defense grid, while a single fully overcharged burst would likely overwhelm said shields from sheer kinetic force, while it's effectiveness against reinforced armor is noticeably reduced. The wave beam, as a modulated frequency energy weapon able to pass through various conductive materials, carries an electrical charge of 9.5 mV/5 dA and a kinetic force equal the normal power beam. As with the power beam, these attributes are multiplied by ten when overcharged with the charge beam feature, for an electrical charge of 95 mV/5 amps. For many humanoid lifeforms, being hit with even an uncharged burst can be potentially crippling or even lethal.
The micro-missile ballistics system is able to pre-generate and fire up to five missiles in rapid succession before requiring a conscious focus and cycling period lasting five seconds, know as the Concentration Cycle. This cycle requires full focus and can not be used during active firing of the energy beam. A standard missile concussive ballistic has an explosive power equal to a M21 anti-personal rocket. Overcharging allows for a super missile, which carries five times the explosive power of a standard missile, thus using all missiles in the stored bank, but this is subject to a one overcharged concussive hardpoint per cycle limit and is not part of the intended function. This overcharge also forces the regular cool down to fifteen seconds as well before the Concentration Cycle can be enacted.
Added to the cannon functions is a electromagnetic charged particle Grapple Beam, capable of latching to ferrous and magnetically charged materials to act as a retractable tether line as the name implies, as well as be used in similar fashion to a lasso and arc back into itself to tether life forms. This latter function has been found to be useful for capture operations or for combat requiring hand to hand tactics.
For the possibility of melee or hand to hand combat, the underlying nanocrystal musculature structure is capable of maintaining the user's base physical strength and reaction movements with little to no hindrance in translation to the suit's own movements. This allows the user to apply their full force of strength in any close quarters attack and the mobile freedom to move at full running and sprinting speeds, in addition to increased reaction movements of the already augmented user, despite the mass and material of the armor. While not actually increasing strength factors, the suit does allow for greater maintained application of the base level strength, in addition to the armor materials' density. Endurance and stamina is also increased by the divide of physical workload taken on by the powered suit itself, allowing the user far more physical activity before the effects of fatigue set in. For practical lift power, relevant primarily to pull capability as the suit has only one functional hand, weight power is increased by a factor of 3 times the user's own body power.
Defensive Systems
Defenses include a refreshing quantum filament shielding barrier that protects the suit from physical and particle energy weapons, and able to withstand up to a charged plasma burst, or about 1000 kilojoules energy impact, as damage before being overwhelmed. The shielding grid requires up to fifteen seconds to fully refresh and restore from overload conditions, but under normal conditions, shielding is able to recharge after three seconds of non-damage, taking another two to fully restore. The physical armor can take some punishment, being heavily resistant to kinetic based weaponry, but this is not to be relied on in heavy combat conditions, or against anti-armor explosives and high caliber plasma weaponry. As an additional note, the Powered Suit is incapable of an internalized environmental extremes barrier system due to sabotage by Mother Brain. Addition of external components might allow for a bypass, but an internal system module will reject as incompatible. The same is applicable to gravity diffusion additions.
The Chozo Powered Suit is vulnerable to advanced forms of electronic warfare and possibly systems hacking. Despite attempts to install updated firewall software to prevent brute force override and system alteration, this vulnerability is difficult to patch and was likely a backdoor entry intentionally left by Mother Brain.
In case of direct physical damage to the user, the suit is capable of minor medical treatment such as release of painkillers through direct skin transfer, blood clot application, as well as temperature modification to heat or cool the injury as needed. The suit cannot mend a broken limb, but it can work to mitigate internal and external bleeding, and keep the user active and alert.
UNIQUE FEATURES
The Powered Suit has a series of capacitor cells that retain a full charge of 120 gigawatts of power, or 24 gWh power consumption at full combat capacity for an operational time of five hours, or a maximum operating time of approximately eight hours at minimal combat capacity, a rate of 15 gWh power consumption. Self repair systems require a large continuous charge of power to effect total repair than is possessed by internal cores. This was an intentional and hidden throttling by Mother Brain, and is difficult to circumvent even after replacement of the original flawed cordimite battery cores with new Zebetite cells. An emergency “recharge” function was added prior to the Invasion of Zebes, allowing the armor to directly channel any high voltage charges into the core batteries and gain up to thirty minutes combat capacity in an added reserve battery in the event of near total exhaustion.
As intended, the Powered Suit is capable of adapting various foreign technologies into its arsenal, such as new ballistic types and beam weapons. Due to sabotage during construction of the Powered Suit by the Mother Brain, this capability is greatly limited. Some weapon types may still be assimilated, but the functionality may not be as efficient, or could contribute to an eventual suit failure. Even with replacement of the flawed component parts, it is possible that some upgrades, such as those which add physical abilities like a speed booster, a space jump module, or other higher level defensive and offensive systems, may still lead to permanent failure of the Powered Suit.
The Powered Suit’s sensor suite and visual information processing systems include a scanning module capable of data processing of individual materials and objects, as well as a burst sweep mapping system for reconnaissance and region data. For visual enhancements, the existing firmware contains low light and night vision settings, base level thermal scanning, and a combat information central relay mode including energy beam and ballistic arc motion calculation prediction displays. The scanning suite is also capable of determining structural stability and density levels of structures, but cannot do so as a passive scan. Added just prior the Invasion of Zebes as well was a software access and hacking utility, which can be updated and enhanced with further data modules.
The Powered Suit is capable of the mári’murú transformation, or “changing sphere”, a state in which the user is transformed into an energy form while the Armor matter conforms into a ball shape 80 centimeters in diameter. This transformation take specific mental states to reach, and the armor user must reach a state of mind letting go of the concept of static self. This capability is due to a module created by the Mother Brain that replicates the mári'murú relics of the Ancient Chozo. In change sphere form, protonic electro pulse “bombs" can be generated in lieu of the power beam, allowing for travel demolitions to clear debris and open passages.
This gunship is a one-of-a-kind customized build and design, having been constructed on Zebes by the automated foundries within the Nest city under the supervision of Maru, Samus' adopted father. Its primary systems and defenses are of standard Tho'ha Chozo technology, with the exception of the highly modified Aetherite flux drive that powers the vessel's faster than light travel.
SHIP CLASS AND SIZE
Name: Thrush Eterna Class: Gunship Length: 20.1168 meters Width: 13.4112 meters Height: 5.334 meters Occupancy: 1 – can carry up to 4 passengers. Atmospheric Speeds: 1610 kph cruise, 2415 kph max. Sublight Speeds: 450 k/s cruise, 900 k/s maximum Overdrive speeds: 3700 kph(Atmospheric) FTL Drive and Speeds: Chozo Flux Drive, Mark 3 capability. 682 lightyears per hour maximum velocity equivalent. Any additional Info: The flux drive contained in Samus's gunship is of an improvised design, and despite stability, barely is within sustainable limits. It was an attempt to compact the power and speeds of a much larger mark 3 drive into a vessel a fraction of the intended size, and while successful, this ‘custom’ engine is prone to overheating if run at full acceleration capabilities for more than ten standard hour cycles without any kind of cool down period. As a result, a cooling period of four to five hours is needed for every ten to twelve hours at full velocity power. In addition, should the aetherite crystals used to power the drive and allow access to the Cosmic Slipstream be removed, the drive will be incapable of any power beyond reduced sublight speeds.
Aside from the Tho'ha Chozo technologies used in constructing this gunship, it also carries a sensor shroud stealth system to cloak the vessel from sensor detection, though this does not prevent visual detection if looked directly on at close range. The Thrush also carries a stasis projection system for long term travel, fundamentally “locking" the subject in a field that nearly halts their body in a virtual freeze of “time”. The function is the same as a Sangheili stasis field, able to slow aging effects to a crawl.
A unique hybrid of Terran, Sangheili and Chozo technologies and built using the design methodologies and sensibilities of all three, the Huntress class armor currently represents the pinnacle of what each can achieve using modern technologies. Built atop the design patterns of Samus Aran's first Power Suit built by Mother Brain, the Huntress class retains all of the abilities and functionality of the base Chozo power armor. The original armor's Scan Visor has been retained alongside its encryption and cyberwarfare suite. Similarly, the armor's basic Arm Cannon has been retained and rebuilt with an enhanced Power Beam that features a much longer effective range before bolt dissipation. As before the suit features a dedicated life support system, enabling it to operate in vacuum or other extreme environments for up to twenty four hours at a time without refresh. Mobility wise the suit likewise has kept the basic Morph Ball module function of the original armor. The suit also boasts modest strength and movement enhancements to compensate for its weight - enabling the user to move completely unencumbered without any impact from the armor itself, although it isn't enough of an enhancement to noticeably improve the user's overall strength output in combat. Among the most unique function, however, was the retention of the armor's storage function. While the armorplate and underlaying bodysuit has largely been built using advanced nanolaminate composites both light in weight and highly resistant to external stresses and temperature gradients, shards of Samus's original suit that were confirmed as clean and free of X infection after removal have been sterilized, melted down and applied in key locations as independent nodules throughout the armor, enabling them to expand their effect in a field not unlike a controlled slipspace portal effect.
Some alterations, however, were made to the second suit from the original design. In the process of isolating and removing the hardware and software blocks and tampering introduced by Mother Brain during the construction of the original suit, the Huntress-class's shielding system has seen a complete overhaul. In the process of fixing the imposed limit on operational time the armor is now capable of projecting 100% of its power reserves into shield strength, enabling the armor to survive far stronger hits before failing - albeit at a cost, as the armor must go into storage to recharge should power reserves reach zero as with the original armor. Should suitable power sources be located in the field, however, the armor can directly recharge its power reserves from them while in use. Room has been left for additional upgrades to expand these reserves should appropriate components and materials be found, however. Similarly, the removal of these hardware and software blocks in combination with another upgrade over the original suit has unlocked a unique feature of many Chozo battlesuits, enabling the Huntress-class armor to adapt, adopt and integrate almost a wide range of technology it comes across with a handful of exceptions among more exotic sources - this includes many Chozo technologies the original suit could not recognize or adapt as per Mother Brain's design, most notably the Chozo Plasma Beam should it be located again.
So far as technologies relevant to the Sangheili and Terrans go, though, a number of additional components and features have been included to bolster the suit's effectiveness. Notably, the Scan Visor has been augmented by a next generation VISR 8.1 system that also further enhances the baseline threat assessment, tracking and target acquisition abilities of the Combat Visor mode alongside the addition of low light/visibility modes. Elements of the ARTEMIS VISR technologies have been included to grant limited interactive capability with Forerunner systems not dissimilar to what the Covenant had managed to achieve, mimicking friendly FoF patterns in at least low security areas devoid of higher intelligence ancilla such as Monitors and active Sentinels. Materials and lessons learned in the construction of Samus's gunship have also been applied to grant the Huntress-class armor a significantly smaller tactical footprint as well - while the current lack of power and simplicity of the system prevents it from serving as a proper cloaking shroud it passively reduces the sensor footprint of the armor, making it take longer to detect and harder to track and target it through most artificial means such as those employed by automated Kromus sentries and turrets. Finally, the armor has been installed with a nanite system not dissimilar to MJOLNIR - while used in combination with the hardware and software updates to enable almost universal tech adoption and integration this has likewise granted the Huntress-class armor a limited ability to repair itself after sustaining direct damage, local materials allowing. More importantly, improved diagnostic functions allow the armor to quickly detect and identify foreign contaminants, isolating and ejecting corrupted components and armor plating to either be replaced at a later date or regrown using onboard nanites and raw materials, a lesson learned from the original suit's fate on SR388.
