Eresh Tarren- Silent Talon
"Power Is Everything, and the greatest power I have is freedom."
The Basics
Name || Eresh Tarren- Translation roughly equating to Silent Talon
Nicknames || Talon, Tree-hopper
Age || 182
Birthday || March 17th
Species || Mawkin Chozo
Gender || Male
Alignment/Faction || Chaotic Neutral/ Mawkin Tribe
Sexuality || Heterosexual
The Appearance
Face Claim || default would be a regular Chozo soldier minus a spear or shield
Height & Weight || 8'7", 586lbs
Identifying Features || Unarmored, his black feathers have blue iridescence, a lean, highly developed musculature. His armor and gear are atypically a reseda green to help blend in to forested environments.
Overall ||All in all, Silent Talon isn't overly remarkable as far as appearances go among the Chozo, albeit a little shorter than average and more powerfully built and proportioned due to his long career as a pathfinder and hunter for the Tribe, his most unique feature being an inky blue iridescence to his otherwise black feathering. His powered armor is rather standard fare for the tribes warriors, perhaps mildly better in quality than the typical kit of basic infantry of some other races, but nothing crazy by his species standards.
The Personality
Personal Strengths || Driven, Methodical, Loyal, Tenacious. Confident
Personal Weaknesses || Very independently minded, Mildly dismissive towards non-Chozo, Stubborn, Overly curious
Goals || Silent Talon wishes to explore the galaxy and test his mettle against the what Sol-Daiban has to offer in terms of a challenge to his prowess. Another goal is to discover potential planets and technology that might be of use to the Tribe's eventual expansion beyond ZDR. The excitement of being on his own, answering mainly to himself for however long he is able is his truest motivation.
Fears || His greatest, unspoken fear that he wont be able to prove himself to his Tribe, another is losing the only family he has left.
Overall || Silent Talon is odd for one of the Mawkin; while his allegiance is unquestionable, this relatively veteran pathfinder is possessed by a strong sense of independence and self interest that on occasion borders on blatant insubordination. Being so used to long assignments either on his own or with small groups, the Mawkin scout never took too well to being almost micro managed once ZDR had been discovered, being told where he could roam and how far he could do so... and he especially disliked having to answer to higher ranking warriors on a regular basis after so many decades of being allowed to operate with only sporadic, minor oversight. Despite his misgivings, Eresh Tarren's loyalty is adamant and nearly impossible to dissuade, for better or worse, and his sense of duty is profound, even if his free spirit would seem at odds with such a mindset. A task given is a task he will complete to the utmost of his ability, though he greatly prefers to be allowed to do so under his own terms at at his own pace if at all possible. This independent nature does cause friction if his sense of morality is challenged, however. Loyal he may be, but he sees himself as a warrior and a hunter, not a barbarous animal.. and if he were to refuse a directive, it is because it involves something truly horrendous to his sensibilities.
The History
Family Information || Most of Silent Talon's family is either long dead, or recently killed in the events that lead to their tribes exile. At the current time, the only direct kin he possesses are his younger sister Red Plume and her three children: Bright Eyes, Strong Wing, and Bold Voice.
Homeworld || His home is now the forest of Ghavoran, the majesty of ZDR's underground forest is a testament of the Ancient's skill and power, and he feels a deep, spiritual oneness with it and the creatures that flourish within. It was one of the very first places he truly explored on the planet, his first recon mission on the planet itself in fact.
History || Due to a combination of a near disastrous disagreement with one of the tribal elders, and a closed door discussion with Ash'kar Behek himself, Eresh Tarren was "officially" exiled from the tribe- cast out to fend for himself in the howling darkness. In truth, Talon was tasked with being an informant of sorts for Raven Beak- an unseen agent who would accomplish tasks that Ash'kar couldn't personally attend to.. with the incentive of allowing the Mawkin Pathfinder to be largely left to his own devices on the condition that he do nothing that would endanger the tribes interests. Granted a ship, supplies, and an unspoken, unknown endorsement from Raven Beak himself, Eresh Tarren was loosed upon the wider world with really only one desire in mind: He wanted to try his hand at being a bounty hunter.. that sounded interesting!
Other Information || Officially, Silent Talon is a freelance hunter and will typically do jobs for anyone willing to take him on- so long as he doesn't find them to be too distasteful. Should Raven Beak call upon him though, Talon will regard whatever task set for him to have full precedence, overriding any other contract he might be currently under.
The Verse-specific details
Abilities || Thanks to his upbringing as a hunter and a scout, Silent Talon is remarkably fast and agile, and while his physical strength is rather average, he boasts impressive stamina even by chozo standards, capable of operating in the field for long periods of time without needing as much rest as many others of kinds might.
Skills || Hunting and tracking, terrestrial and interstellar navigation, weapon and powered armor maintenance, ship maintenance, specialization regarding stealth and reconnaissance.
Training || Silent Talon has spent nearly his entire life as a path finder and soldier for the Tribe, and has spent decades honing his skills as a scout and an hunter. During his youth he was apprenticed to a ranger of the tribe, and gained intimate experience operating in wilderness conditions.
Combat Strengths || While highly versed in close quarters combat as all Mawkin soldiers are, sabotage, Marksmanship and stealthy, guerilla tactics are where he truly shines. He was a consummate scout and covert operative before becoming a bounty hunter.
Combat Weaknesses || While he can hunt and slay beasts in melee combat if need be, close quarters combat is something he would rather avoid, being much more comfortable with a gun in his hands rather than his sword.
Additional Details || TBA
Weapons || A telescopic barreled coil gun rifle, a catalyst blade, a plasma carbine weapon with a feature enabling it to toggle between single shot, semi-auto, and automatic fire.
Ship || Strix-12, a Mawkin covert operations gunship that resembles a curious mix of a Seraph void fighter and the Metroid Prime 1 gunship, its colors being midnight blue with sunset orange highlights along the seams of the vehicle, armed with two fore plasma cannons, one aft plasma cannon for harassing pursuing bogeys, and two ventral three-missile missile pods.
Current Story || The official beginning of this story is quite mundane: Acting as an escort for a diplomatic visit to Daiban, presumably for the purpose of introducing the Mawkin to the galactic community- whatever secondary objections for this job aren’t pertinent for Silent Talon to currently know. After all, he is technically an “exile”, the true reason of his employment wouldn’t be discussed through a public transmission.
The Roleplayer
Pen Name ||Sarah or Korogra are both fine Age || 25+
Other Characters here on Monomachiarum || NA
Roleplay Sample || Silent Talon looked over the mission parameters sent to him by the client he had recently been employed by, the nearly onyx, red tinged orbs narrowing from behind the red eye-lenses of his helmet. He was no stranger to tracking criminals or pirates who decided to lay low in highly urbanized sprawls or forested locales, but the inherent.. vagueness of his quarry's description made him uneasy. According to the intelligence on the target, they were an individual belonging to a relatively obscure alien species that was indigenous to the moon of a nearby gas giant, apparently this one had been an illegal immigrant to the highly corporated planet UT-1267 and the client wanted them captured- unharmed- in order to relocate them back to their home system. But aside from that, there was no actual description of said illegal: no physical description other than that they were "an ubiquitous example of the species", no mention of age, sex, or possible identifiers.. only a rough estimation of their location. Right away this smacked of a shady, potentially very dirty job, and it caused his feathers to ruffle in minor agitation.
Taking a moment to look away, he reviewed the offered bounty upon completion, and would weigh his options. On one hand, the job itself didn't seem particularly difficult or dangerous,to refuse it off of a gut feeling would likely damage his credibility quite severely. Happy clients might talk, but angry ex-clients talked much louder and rarely was what they said flattering or conductive for good business.. and UT-1267 was a world where a negative opinion concerning a Hunter's credibility could close far more doors than the average bounty hunter could even conceive of.
But on the other? Eresh couldn't shake the feeling that the client wasn't being forthright with him about this "immigrant", and despite his worry over what might happen to his reputation there was a niggling, persistent sense of anxiety that he hadn't felt in a long time. Sitting back in the command seat of his gunship, he closed his eyes and contemplated.
He had quite the conundrum to consider.
