Eresh would nod as she talked "Explosives have been something I have been trying to avoid using unless absolutely necessary. As for Kiting... yes I am familiar with the concept." He then would chuckle as he then looked at the pouches on his belt. "I may not have much in the way of explosive grenades, but I do have some rather.. dubiously legal gas canisters we can try to use, if you aren't afraid of using- what do humans call it- bug spray?" he asked, taking one out to show her: A decently large gas grenade.
"I don't have enough on me to kill all of the pirates, but seeing how mild the weather is and how rare it is for the low level pirates to be afforded anything approaching environment-sealed armor.. I'd say if we use them tactically we can take care of a good portion of them. Enough to convince them to try to follow us to their deaths." he said, a dark hint of satisfaction in his voice.

The mention of a lack of environment-sealed armor prompted Eliza to think on the possibilities for a moment, then a wicked smile formed beneath her visor. She had a plan forming in her head even then, which might make their actions a bit more effective.
"I have an idea. I'll set off my own attack, should throw them into disarray nicely, and then when they start massin' ta march, ye toss a grenade, aye?" Eliza then reactivated her photoreactive panels, and melded into the undergrowth as she advanced in near-total silence towards the Kromus camp. Inside her armor, the Witch was chanting softly, weaving the spell she would need to begin their attack, then unleashed it around what she hoped was the commander's tent, and waited for the effects to make themselves known. For 20 feet in every direction from the center of the tent, the atmosphere was pushed back utterly, leaving behind a void as profound as the depths of space, shrouding the area in an eerie silence, as without air, sound could only travel through the ground.
While no sound left the tent, several Kromus had seen those within the effect of Eliza's spell, and in moments, the camp came to life with shouts of alarm. Eliza held perfectly still among the undergrowth, becoming all but invisible to visual inspection as the seconds ticked by. When nearly a minute had passed, she carefully wove a second spell, and loosed a mote of flame into the middle of the tent. Knowing that the trajectory may well have been spotted, Eliza immediately began dropping back further into the forest. A heartbeat later, the air was split and the ground shook as more than a ton of atmosphere collapsed into the imploding vacuum, deafening anyone within the camp that was not so fortunate as to have noise-dampening software and enclosed helmets. The secondary boom of the amplified Fireball seemed utterly silent by comparison, though the flames claimed their share of victims and added to the general chaos. Unfortunately for the Kromus, none of their number were equippedto withstands such sudden explosions of sound, and many of those nearest were left staggering as they choked on ruptured lungs or fell victim to other ailments such as pulmonary embolisms. There could be no doubt that they were under attack, now, but with so many disoriented, and all of them deafened by the implosion, no manner of organized response was possible.
"That's our cue," Eliza called over their comms, as if such acts were perfectly mundane. Rather than moving directly away from the camp, however, the hunter made a beeline for the nearest sentry, drawing and igniting her plasma saber. A startled cry went out from the Kromus as the incandescent blade arced towards the alien, yet for all its surprise, it was swift enough to evade the first cut entirely. Frustrated, Eliza flicked her saber blade back in a reverse cut, but with the Kromus's larger strides, even her advance was enough to only score the enemy's armor, spraying molten alloy in white-hot droplets across the forest floor. She doubted she'd have much more time to complete her deception, but Eliza did not yet break away.
Behind his helmet Eresh would raise a brow in curiosity at her statement, but he would simply nod and listened to her proposal. "That sounds like a plan, Hunter Lockheed. Very well, I'll take my position."
And he would then scale a tree that gave him a proper look over the camp, nestling into a wedge of branches as he followed the elven woman through his scope.. curious to see what her plan even was. As it turned out he wouldn't have to wait overly long.. as one of the central tents then practically imploded.. the sound dampening safety feature of his suit activating a split second as the shockwave rippled through the camp. For a few moments he simply admired the chaos as the Kromus panicked and floundered about.. feeling a dark sense of catharsis at the carnage that had been inflicted upon them- justice for the cruelty they had sown upon the inhabitants of this planet. This reverie would subside a moment later as he then threw one, then two gas grenades into the clumps of disorganized pirates.. giving a somewhat sadistic chuckle as he watched the grenades taking their toll as well.. dozens of Kromus, already barely holding on after Eliza's spell collapsed within seconds.
That was when he brought his rifle up and began taking potshots from his impromptu snipers nest, bursting one Pirate's skull, and then another. It was when Eliza rushed one of the sentries and engaged in battle when he turned his attention back to her, and a moment later he would fire again.. the magnetically accelerated round punching into the alien as it tried to lunge at her, blowing apart its shoulder.

If Eliza was surprised by the sight of her foe's shoulder bursting asunder, she gave no indication of it, instead flicking her blade across to put the unfortunate creature out of its misery. "Neat work. Let's mop th' rest of this rabble up, then see if we can find any intel on where th' rest of th' damned bassas are," she said over the comms as she idly watched the severed head bounce across the forest floor. "I trust yer seals held nicely?" As Eliza spoke, she powered down her plasma saber, then drew her rifle in order to join the Mawkin in picking off any Kromus that looked like they might be regaining their bearings, even if their hearing was shot. In truth, it was hardly a challenge in the wake of the devastating opening, and even with her photoreactive panels deactivated, Eliza kept her approach steady, firing with deadly precision on her enemies. "Probably should add that I canna do that particular combo but once more before I need rest ta regain my energy. Needless ta say, I'd prefer this ta be all th' combat we partake in today if at all possible," she added with a chuckle. "If it's na possible, though, I still have plenty of slugs."
Firing at one fleeing Kromu, and another, and then a third, he would answer her over the comm, his tone calm but holding an unmistakable sense of grim satisfaction within it. “The seals are uncompromised, no issues there. And understood; I was just about to suggest that we see what intelligence we can find.” And he would slide down the tree he was using as a snipers nest, rifle up into position as soon as he hit the ground.
“I am surprised, most magicians I’ve seen are far more modest with their witchcraft.” He said conversationally, though the undertone of respect in his voice was audible. “I’ve rarely seen displays that dramatic.”

Eliza chuckled softly as she continued to fire her rifle on survivors with grim efficiency. "Ta be fair, I've had longer than most ta hone my craft, and I was already more powerful than most. Result bein' that I can do some rather fun things wi my spells," she explained. "Feel free ta move up and help me check this mess fer intel, aye?" she added as she paused at one badly burned Kromus, then squatted down to gaze into its eyes intently.
"ÆSIR..?" it croaked, disbelieving, though it was too weak, too badly injured to move for a weapon.
"No. Far, far worse," Eliza replied with a malicious grin. "Ye may die now, wi th' knowledge that all yer kin that fail ta flee will soon join ye.."
The Kromus didn't answer at first, struggling to decipher just what had even been said. "What..?" it started to gasp out, then let out a withered hiss as Eliza powered on her plasma dagger and plunged it into the creature's lungs.
"I said, ye may die now." With that, Eliza deactivated the blade and began searching the body. "Any luck over there?" she called out to Eresh.
“So I can see.” He would then chuff as he slung his rifle over his shoulder after taking a few more shots after the fleeing pirates. “That sounds like a good idea, I’ll let you know if I find anything.” And he would begin his search, pulling a smaller plasma weapon from his hip. Whereas Eliza took the time to taunt one of the injured aliens before ending it, the Chozo would efficiently- coldly shoot whatever surviving Kromus he stumbled upon.. only pausing to do a brief verbal interrogation before dispatching it and moving to the next. It didn’t yield much, but he did piece together a somewhat incomplete picture of what the general plan of theirs was.
But it was when one choked out that the commanders quarters held something value he would contact Eliza through the comms.
“I may have something, meet me at the commander’s- tent.”

Eliza perked an eyebrow at the odd hesitation in the Mawkin's voice when he described the tent as such, but assumed that it was likely merely a language barrier issue, and continued her grisly work ensuring that none of the Kromus that had survived the devastating assault survived any longer.
"Acknowledged. I'll be over in a moment," she replied. "There's still a few more..stragglers. Any spoilers fer me?" the Witch wondered with just the faintest hint of a playful tone.

And the two would both converge on the tent- though Eresh took the time to continue providing summery executions to a handful other crippled pirates before the two met helmet-to-helmet once again. To call it a tent was a bit of a misnomer, it was a sealed prefabricated structure with a closed door. Looking at Eliza, he would take a position next to the door, plasma carbine at the ready.
“On your signal, preferably no explosives or sorcery that causes collateral damage- we want to see what this value … thing is.”

Eliza gave a curt nod as she moved to the door to the prefab structure, standing opposite from Eresh. Once they both were in position, she raised her right hand, with her thumb, index finger, and middle finger extended, then pumped her hand once, lowering her middle finger, then twice, curling her index finger to join the rest of her fingers, before a third and final pump, fully closing her fist. A moment later, Eliza pivoted, driving her armored fist through the lock of the door with the combined force of her amplified strength and total mass brought to bear by her rotational energy. A military security door would have shuddered under such an impact, and the glorified tent door Eliza struck buckled inward and clanged from its hinges onto the ground in that single blow, allowing her unexpected partner to follow in the wake to clear the interior.
Eresh didn’t wait once she punched the lock and the door slid open, carbine at the ready. Once he crossed the threshold he paused, weapon still rock solid against his shoulder.
At the other side of room was a Kromun that was only a foot shorter than Eresh, it’s armor denoting it as being a fairly high ranked pirate if it could afford it’s admittedly sophisticated looking equipment- a cannon pointed straight at the door. This wasn’t want made him freeze however. No, it was something else that was in the room with the Space Pirate.
Arranged around the alien was a half dozen Yl’fyn children, ranging from prepubescent to young adolescent, all wearing what looked to be heavy collars of dark metal, a small interface blinking a soft red light.
“That is far enough.” Came a guttural response in Yl’fyn from the pirate. “I have linked these explosives to my armor’s life monitors. If you terminate me, these hatchlings with join me- as will you bounty hunters.” It growled out. The children however, were wide eyed and were whispering a single word to each other, almost reverently.

Eliza dipped through the space between Eresh and the doorframe, rifle held ready, but she did not fire. Instead, she depolarized his visor, letting the Kromus see her features, in particular the telltale point of her ears. For a moment, Eliza considered attempting to lay the commander low, but her HUD informed her that he lacked shields, which meant most of the spells she had that would pose a threat would almost surely kill him, and the rest would likely prompt him to activate the detonator anyway.
"If you kill them, I will visit upon you such agonies as even your leader could not devise. You wish to live. Yet I cannot allow you to take these children," Eliza observed with icy clarity. "The Federation fleet will have been alerted by now, and not nearly enough of your people are present to hold the system." She paused to let that statement hang in the air before continuing on. "As much as I would love to kill you here and now, I cannot do so without sacrificing these little ones, and so I make you this offer, once, and only once. Leave this system. Take not one more life, and you and yours will suffer nothing more than me and mine. The alternative is certain destruction. So, what say you?" Eliza questioned. Though her words were spoken calmly, there was no mistaking the underlying fury in every syllable, so clearly enunciated so that there could be no mistaking what she meant in any way.
The pirate would turn his head stiffly at Eliza as she spoke to him, his weapon pointing at her, then Eresh, then back to her as he gave a muted grumbling before speaking.
“You say that as if we wouldn’t be exterminated even if we surrendered. I know you bounty hunting types: you won’t pass up a bounty even if you say otherwise. How much are our heads running now?” He asked in an acidic tone, the children flinching and looking at the two hunters with a pleading uncertainty in their eyes.
Eresh was silent as his companion negotiated with the Kromun, his attention instead focused on the explosive collars. His computer suite was detecting a steady signal between the pirate’s suit and the explosives.. confirming what he had said about the bombs going off if something happened to him. Maybe there was a way to work around that problem?
The lenses of his helmet would faintly pulse every few seconds as he attempted to analyze the signal.. and while this went on the pirate would continued
“If you really are telling the truth, I want a ship for myself and any of my comrades who are still alive in this camp within the hour, and I want your word that no one will interfere with us leaving this ugly dirt ball.”
The children’s expressions turned from fear to outrage at the insult to their Homeworld. One of them, a girl no older than a young teenager almost stood up.. but stopped when she saw Eresh motion for her to stay down with his hand- a sneaky gesture performed as the pirates attention was on Eliza.

"Ye know hunters, aye," Eliza admitted. "But I can tell ye now, ye donna know me, and ye most certainly donna know him," she added with a motion towards Eresh. After a moment, she slung her rifle into place on the magnetic clamp on her backplate. "Tell me, what is yer name?" she then asked. "Ye ask fer more than I can promise. If ye brought yer own ship here, then my recommendation is ta make fer it wi all haste. If ye dinna bring yer own vessel, then as few as have survived, I can offer ye passage ta th' Border Worlds. There is rumor some of yer kin have made homes there, and given I've heard nowt of war in that region, they seem ta be gettin' on fine. Either way, yer part in this war is over if ye donna have yer own ride. Ye have my word, though, by th' fires of Sol, no harm will come ta ye and any ye may still have alive in this camp if ye accept these terms. If ye donna..well, my previous offer stands. What say ye?"
Eresh was silent as she talked, letting his suit run it’s task without interruption. He had to admit, he was surprised she would even agree to honor any deals with the space pirates. From all his encounters with them so far, he couldn’t say that he would trust the Kromus to not stab him in the back if they thought they had the advantage… but he could appreciate the gesture on her part. It implied a self respect and moral code that resonated with his own personal morals, and that elevated his opinion of her a fair deal.
The pirate would turn his head to look at the unmoving Chozo, then back to the much smaller hunter before grunting “Even more reason to take what you say with a pinch of sodium nitrate.” And he scoffed at her asking for his name. “Why bother? You won’t remember it no matter what happens. If you can’t offer a ship then we can’t leave, Command would vaporize us if we tried to run back to our ships for cowardice.”
The Mawkin narrowed his eyes at that revelation. It did make sense, given how the pirates operated. A commander who fled because his force was obliterated by just two enemy combatants would bring nothing but ridicule and execution. He would prove that he was weak, and weakness wasn’t tolerated among the Kromus.
