Eliza's gaze never wavered from the commander's face as she listened to his words, then nodded calmly.
"A bit of a problem fer ye and whoever ye still have alive, certainly. I can tell ye this, though. My memory reaches further than th' Galactic Federation's existence. If ye are willin' ta take my offer, yer leaders will never know ye lived past this day. I will remember that ye accepted an offer of honorable surrender, ta find yer own way in th' galaxy. If ye wish ta live, accept my offer, and I'll take ye offworld ta Border Worlds territory. I've no ship ta spare, and his is too small fer more than one, even if ye could convince him," the Witch pointed out. "Pointless death, or a life beyond what ye've known?" she asked again.
The Mawkin listened with intrigue. Her words spoke of a sense of integrity and code of honor that resonated with his own morality.. even if he personally didn’t trust the pirate. Eresh remained silent as she spoke, taking note of her words while his suit then quietly displayed a notification on his HUD:
Signal analysis and replication complete. Broadcast frequency to receivers?
Muting his external comms he would respond with a terse ‘yes’ as his suit began emitting the Kromus life signal In synchronicity with the pirate’s own armor- an insurance policy just in case the hood commander changed his mind.
Reactivating his comms he then spoke, his tone even if not coolly distant. “I cannot say that I would offer safe harbor to the pirates, especially after the damage you have inflicted on this world and it’s people. However, if you and yours were to surrender peacefully I would not interfere. I am a warrior, not a butcher of those who have already submitted.”
The pirate stared both down for a long moment, and for a tense few seconds he gave a growl as the three maintained their stalemate. Finally, he sighed
“I accept your terms, but I will not deactivate the collars until I can guarantee my men’s safety. You speak honeyed words Hunter.. but sweet things often hide poison. I will not give up my one source of honesty from you just yet.”

Eliza managed a faint smile then glanced towards the children. "Here's hopin' there's enough space fer everyone, then," she remarked wryly. "Let's see who all survived, and we'll get on our way," the ashen-haired woman added. "Ye lot, are yer kin still alive? Ye'll need ta come along, unless th' good commander here is willin' ta disarm th' collars before we leave th' planet. I donna much like his tactic, but I canna much fault him, circumstances bein' what they are. Eresh, help our friend locate any we missed, would ye? I want this handled as quickly as possible."
Eresh would pause at that, but before he answered he felt a small hand tug at his elbow. Looking down, he saw that the girl was staring up at him, shaking her head vehemently, glaring daggers at the Kromus out of the corner of her eye before looking up at him
“He doesn’t deserve it,” she whispered in her native tongue, her tone harsh and pained. As the translator finished relaying her words, Eresh glanced at the Kromun’s back as he tentatively left the shelter.
“I don’t disagree, but a deal is a—“
“He took them away, from all of us.” She said plainly, loud enough for Eliza to hear.

"I was hoping they'd survived, but I know," Eliza answered in the girl's own tongue as easily as if she really were a Ylf'in. "There's an opportunity to save your lives, at the least though, and I've given my word. I'll take you wherever you wish to go after, but for now, I need you to come with me, please." Eliza rolled her shoulders after a moment, then turned to exit the shelter. "Let's move. I sent out a message before I landed confirmin' th' occupation. If we're na away and clear before th' response fleet arrives, those collars are like ta be detonated."
Eresh would softly help several if the children to their feet as he ushered them to follow, turning his attention back to Eliza
“How long will it take for the Fleet to arrive to this world? I’m assuming at least a day, possibly three at most, considering this planets isolated nature.” He said, pausing as the youngest of the group hugged his leg, looking up at him with doe-like eyes. For a moment he remembered another world, seemingly a lifetime ago, with emerald skinned children hiding and cowering between broken branches of a sundered tree..
“Do not fear, we will keep you safe. Like her I give my word that nothing is going to hurt you.” He said softly. This served to convince the child- he thought could be female but their age made it hard to tell- and they let go.
Now that the group was ushered outside, Eresh advising the group to close their eyes, Eliza and Eresh could see that the commander seemed to found six.. then seven survivors that were all gathered around him with various degree of injuries; none looked fatal.

"Hard to say. Jump points are instantaneous, and Ylf'ina's got three points at least, wi one bein' a direct chain back ta Sol. But wi how long it takes ta get a task force prepped..a day? Maybe two?" Eliza guessed. "So we should probably na loiter about too long." With that, Eliza moved to approach the Kromus, making note of their injuries. "I trust ye've explained th' circumstances ta yer men?" the Witch asked, not even bothering to speak to the other Kromus, as she doubted any of them still retained their hearing, as they had been unsheltered from the opening blast of the ambush. "My ship's a good 3 hours away at a quick march, and yer men arna likely ta make that pace. I sent an alert ta Confed before I landed, so we've got between 12 ta 36 hours ta be out of here if our agreement is ta hold. I recommend we move wi all haste," she informed the commander, then moved to lift one of the Yl'fyn children up onto her back. "Hang on ta me, aye? Ye two, Eresh will carry ye, jist donna pull his feathers," she instructed with a calm that made it seem as though this were just a simple outing, and not a race to preserve their lives.
The Kromus all muttered and hissed at each other in their tongue as they discussed their options. After a few moments of heated debate the commander gave a terse nod. “It cannot be helped. We will March to your vessel. You will lead the way, we will follow. Less opportunities for betrayal.”
Eresh would frown behind his helm at that comment, but he refrained from voicing his misgivings. Any sort of confrontation might agitate the pirates and cause them to react violently to the perceived “threat”.. and the young ones’ safety was the highest priority. Sighing to himself, the Mawkin would gently lift the child who had clung to his leg into his arms and knelt so another could climb upon his back- chuffing at Eliza’s remark about his feathers.
“If they could get to my feathers through my armor, the Kromus would’ve been doomed.” He said with a bit of levity, which resulted in a few nervous giggles from the younglings and annoyed huffs from the alien invaders. Ignoring that, the Chozo warrior stood to his full height and glanced at the group.
“Let us be off then, we have a skimmer a klik away that should help us move a bit more quickly if absolutely necessary- for the children.”
